Accessibility

Usable on a cheap phone, a screen reader, or a bad connection.

Our readers browse on hand-me-down laptops and capped mobile data. Accessibility and performance are the same job here.

The standard we build to

We target WCAG 2.2 Level AA. That is a target, not a certificate — we test as we build and fix what we find.

What is in place today

  • A skip link to main content as the first focusable element on every page.
  • Semantic landmarks: one <main>, labelled navigation, real heading order with a single H1 per page.
  • Body text contrast of at least 4.5:1, and large text at least 3:1, including text over hero imagery.
  • Visible keyboard focus rings on every link, button, and form field. Nothing is mouse-only.
  • Descriptive alternative text and explicit width and height on every image, so layout does not jump while loading.
  • The mobile menu and the FAQ accordion are real buttons with aria-expanded state, closable with Escape.
  • Form fields have persistent labels, not placeholder-only labels.
  • Motion is limited to short fades, and all of it is disabled under prefers-reduced-motion.
  • Text reflows to 320px width without horizontal scrolling and stays readable at 200% zoom.

Known gaps

  • Retailer pages are outside our control. Once you click out to a partner, their accessibility applies, and it varies.
  • We have not completed a full screen-reader pass on every one of our thirty pages; the home, shop, category, and form pages are covered.
  • Product imagery is representative of the category rather than the exact retailer photograph, and alternative text says so.

Tell us what breaks

If any part of this site blocks you, email hectormahady@frontporchstitchery.ai with the page and what happened. We prioritise access bugs above everything else on the roadmap, and we will reply with a fix or a timeline within a couple of business days.

Product links go out to retail partners such as Temu, Amazon, and Bluehost, and we may earn a commission when you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. Commission never decides what makes the edit. Full detail on the affiliate disclosure page.
